Navigating Poland

An extensive publication for foreigners - nationals of non-EU states, aimed to provide information necessary to live in Poland, was prepared in 2009 by a group of experts of Helsinki Foundation of Human Rights.

The publication is available in six languages: Polish, English, Russian, Ukrainian, Chinese and Vietnamese.

The main chapters of the publication discuss:

  • Basic facts about Poland
  • State institutions and offices - with an overview on what matters can be addressed to which body
  • Legalization of stay (from visas to possibilities of long term residence in various circumstances)
  • Labour market and taxes
  • Insurance
  • Social assistance
  • Legal protection in Poland - presenting the legal system and the rights of foreigners in legal proceedings.

The publication was prepared thanks to co-funding received from the European Fund for Integration of Third Country Nationals, the state budget and Open Society Institute.
