A child born on the territory of the Republic of Poland receives a Polish birth certificate. He or she must be reported to the registry office (Urząd Stanu Cywilnego, USC) appropriate to the place of birth – regionalisation applies. The office will register the child’s birth and provide the parents with the child’s Civil Registration Number (PESEL), if at least one parent has such a number.
