Short-term psychological intervention in working with migrants
Training event for psychologists
|
A training meeting for psychologists working with migrants is a presentation of the approach developed by IPSO - a German organization specialized in providing psychological support to people from non-European cultures.
The IPSO working method is based on a series of several meetings, it is also often used while working online.
IPSO employs psychologists from migrant backgrounds and prepares non-psychologists to provide "psychological first aid". The meeting will cover the method of short-term intervention, remote work, psychological work with an interpreter, as well as preparation for work of people from the clients' country of origin.
The meeting will be run by the psychologist of IPSO, Inge Missmahl. Over many years of work she has established a system of psychological work in Afghanistan, as well as a network of help available online.
Inge is also an Ashoka Fellow. You can learn more about her here: https://www.ted.com/talks/inge_missmahl_bringing_peace_to_the_minds_of_afghanistan
