Shantala massage – free workshop for parents
During the workshop you will discover how your little one is developing and how you can support their development.
– You will find out how to prepare for a massage and what you will need.
– You will learn how to massage your baby from head to toe.
– You will experience the magical impact of touch, tranquillity and slowness.
A child that gets massaged sleeps better, eats better, is calmer; massage regulates muscle tension, stimulates development, improves wellbeing and boosts immunity.
Massaging the baby also benefits the mum or dad, as massage is an excellent way to build a bond with the child, strengthen confidence in one’s own competences and counteract postnatal depression.
During the classes you can feed and change your baby. Children can be asleep; in such a case we will practise on dolls.
The workshop is led by Marta Piegat-Kaczmarczyk – intercultural psychologist, Solution-Focused Therapy practitioner, ambassador of the Kids Skills method, graduate of the Perinatal Depression Support Academy for Women, who has been working with refugee and multicultural families since 2000. Since 2014, she has been supporting women in preparation for parenthood and the perinatal period. Marta runs support groups and workshops for parents. Supports children and young people who have experienced trauma, violence or discrimination. Provides training for professionals. Privately, mum of a teenager and a school pupil, so she never gets bored.
Activities for pregnant women, young mothers and children with refugee and migration experiences are implemented by the Polish Migration Forum Foundation with the support of CARE International.
