Praga can be safely called Warsaw’s street art district. The gable walls of historic but not renovated tenement houses, which reveal themselves when neighboring buildings are less fortunate and are demolished, have become a space for street artists. There are also smaller artistic interventions, such as stickers, mosaics or painting miniatures on trees.
Currently, Praga’s murals are not only grassroots – not always legal – activities of local underground artists. Some of them are works of specially invited foreign street art stars, others were created as part of streetwork workshops with local kids, and one was even created for advertising purposes, but stayed because it became part of the local landscape.
We meet on July 5 at 6:30 p.m. at the exit of the Metro Dworzec Wileński under the PKP building, ul. Targowa 74. The walk will take about 1.5 hours.
The walk will be led by a photographer (whose photo won the WordPress photo 2020) @Tomek Kaczor.
