Important information! As of January 1, 2025, the minimum wage, income criteria for social assistance, income limit for undeclared activities have increased.

Minimum wage

According to the Decree of the Council of Ministers of September 12, 2024, as of January 2025, the minimum wage is PLN 4666 gross, while the minimum hourly rate has been set at PLN 30.50 gross;

This is important information for foreigners who apply or intend to apply for a temporary residence permit for the purpose of work. For them, the requirement is to have a salary equal to or higher than the minimum wage.

At the same time, we would like to draw your attention to the fact that the above changes do not have transitional provisions in proceedings on legalization of residence in the territory of the Republic of Poland. Therefore, all pending cases will be subject to the new rates, and foreigners in proceedings must meet the new criteria. The Department of Foreigners’ Affairs (WSC) informs that there is no need to update Appendix No. 1 to the application for a temporary residence and work permit. The minimum wage rates indicated in previous years will be automatically raised to the current minimum wages. The new rates must include attachments to be filled out as early as 2025.

Income criterion

The income criterion (subsistence minimum) has been increased:

for a single person: PLN 1010 per month,

for a person in a family: PLN 823 per month.

These changes will apply to foreigners who intend to apply or have applied for temporary residence on the basis of foreigner’s residence, reunification with family (residence with a family member), study or study, long-term resident’s residence. This is the minimum to support oneself and family members, which should be taken into account when calculating a regular and stable income, taking into account the number of dependents of the foreigner.

This change also applies to access to benefits and social assistance benefits.

Income limit for undeclared activities

The income limit for undeclared activity in 2025 is PLN 3,499.50, or 75% of the minimum wage in effect at the time, which in 2025 is PLN 4,666 gross.
