Join us and together create a space of openness and support that changes the lives of both migrants and volunteers.
At the Polish Migration Forum Foundation, the volunteer community is at the heart of our activities. We offer the opportunity to engage in projects that combine support for migrants with personal development for volunteers.
Working together, we support the migrant community in various areas – from teaching Polish and English, supporting children in their studies, to helping organize cultural events.
Volunteer Information
Our volunteers support the Polish Migration Forum Foundation team and migrants primarily in the following areas:
- Language learning as part of the “Chodź na słówko” project, for which we continuously recruit individuals willing to conduct conversations in Polish and English, both live and online.
- We train our volunteers in the methodology of teaching Polish as a foreign language, explain the specifics of working in a migrant environment. For those interested, we organize training in psychological first aid according to the International Medical Corps method. All receive access to exercises and textbooks, and can also use methodological advice.
- Supporting children in their studies – volunteers visit migrant children in schools, helping them with homework, test preparation, etc.
- Support in organizing and conducting meetings and workshops – craft, dance, sports, culinary, etc.
- Ongoing assistance in the administrative work of the Foundation
- Translations into various languages
- Childcare during workshops for women
- Occasional support for migrants in everyday life, for example, in writing CVs, transporting a child to activities, or shopping.
Among the more than 100 PFM volunteers are also migrants from Ukraine, Azerbaijan, Iran, Venezuela, Bolivia, Colombia, Afghanistan, Spain, the United States, India, and Belarus.
Chodź na słówko – – volunteer conversations
The „Chodź na słówko” project involves supporting migrants in learning the Polish language. We are continually recruiting individuals willing to conduct conversations in Polish and English. In 2023, 100 international pairs were formed, meeting at least once a week for at least three months (most continue to meet) live or online. We train our volunteers in the methodology of teaching Polish as a foreign language, explain the specifics of working in a migrant environment. All receive access to exercises and textbooks and can also use methodological advice.
